The PRBC engine possesses a number N of pairs of pistons, which have alternate contra-rotative motions permitting to achieve the admission, the compression, the explosion  and the exhaust for each of the 2N rooms of combustion delimited by the rotary pistons and the cover.

The animation below presents schematically the sequence of the different times for a motor PRBC with 2 pairs of pistons, either 4 rooms of combustion:

four times cycle in each room: 1. intake (admission)        2. compression        3. explosion (firing)        4. exhaust (échappement)

Whatever is the N number of pairs of pistons, in the setting of a 4 times cycle :
- the engine works with 2N rooms at variable volumes
- every time 2 consecutive pistons join themselves, one will have either a compression, either an exhaust
- every time 2 consecutive pistons move away, one will have either an explosion / détente, either an admission

With the respect of the chronology for each of the rooms of:

1.  the admission 2. the compression 3. The explosion 4. the exhaust


The PRBC motor can also run on 2 times cycle of type (intake / exhaust) and (compression / explosion / relaxation ) by a vigorous sweep of burnt gases by the fresh air at every end of explosion and relaxation.

Whatever is the N number of pairs of pistons, in the setting of a 2 times cycle :
- the engine works with 2N rooms at variable volumes
- every time 2 consecutive pistons join themselves, one will have the compression
- Every time 2 consecutive pistons move away, one will have the explosion / détente
- every time the room is to the maximal volume, the fresh gases fill the room while hunting the burnt gases (
simultaneous admission and exhaus )

With the respect of the chronology for each of the rooms of:

1.  The admission / exhaust                 2. the compression / the explosion / relaxation



Moreover, the PRBC engine can run as an air / hydraulic motor, with the following features for N pairs of pistons:
- the engine has 2N rooms at variable volumes
- every time 2 consecutive pistons move away, one will have the injection of the pressurized fluid
- every time 2 consecutive pistons join themselves, one will have the exhaust of the depressurized fluid

With the respect of the chronology for each of the rooms of:

1.  the injection of pressurized fluid             2. exhaust of unpressurized fluid


The motor PRBC can become air / hydraulic pumps, with the following features for N pairs of pistons:
- the engine has 2N rooms at variable volumes
- every time 2 consecutive pistons move away, one will have the admission of the fluid under weak pressure
- every time 2 consecutive pistons join themselves, one will have the repression of fluid under pressure

With the respect of the chronology for each of the rooms of:

1.  admission of fluid under weak pressure         2. repression of fluid under pressure

In any case, the conversion of the each rotary piston's motion "alternative rotation" into "continuously rotation" is necessary and may be very finely controlled, especially by chosing the central rotative cam.
