06/08/2009_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND COHERENCE OF THE POGDC, CONCEPT, LINKED WITH THE MPRBC ?
The claims of patent "Piston Octogonal à Géométrie Déformable Contrôlée" (POGDC's zip in French), set down by SYCOMOREEN since
February 2009, unveils a radically new engine, useful as a motor and/or
pump of which the kinematics and the remarkable features ensued from a
set of technical requirements and of principles of design. Here is a synthesis of it in 8 points:
_______
1. The POGDC engines are at same power at least 4 times more compact than traditional engines with pistons rods and crankshaft, or also at same volume, 4 times more powerful.
Waited Goal(s) : ultracompact motor, notably for hybrid architectures, special engines with high specific power (aeronautics, military vehicles or for competition).
_______
2. The POGDC engines require about 20 kg of usual steel per liter of cubic capacity.
Waited Goal(s) :drastic reduction of the manufacturing costs through the savings of raw materials and construction with low CO2 emissions.
_______
3. The POGDC engines have preferably valves with rotary obturator,
allowing a full section out-flow of the gases with a new mechanism offering an entirely controlled variable valves' timing in phase and in lift.
Waited Goal(s) :reduction of the consumption by optimizing the breath of the engine or by achieving cycles with over-expansion (notably the Miller's cycle) without changing the main motorizing mechanism.
_______
4. The POGDC engines optionally get small additional pistons to vary the compression rate (VCR) on a range going from 5 to 25. These pistons preferably carry the injector and/or the sparking plug (see also the notice of 27/04/2009).
Waited Goal(s) :optimization of the combustion for any RPM, especially for overfed engines. Downsizing and reduction of the specific consumption.
_______
5. The POGDC engines convert their motion with special cams and profiles possibly over-multilobed
b) To finely control the volumes of the rooms,
and thus the variations of temperature and pression at the times of
compression : it opens new perspectives as well for conventional
combustion (gasoline or Diesel) than for not conventional (Controlled
Auto Ignition / CAI, High Charge
Compression Ignition / HCCI, hybrid cycle / "Diesotto")
_______
6. The POGDC engines are intrinsically and naturally well balanced.
Waited Goal(s) :to get power on high RPM, no vibrations, less and even no shock absorbers and parasitic noises.
_______
7. The POGDC engines allow to change nearly continuously the volumic capacity by combination of active/shut down rooms.
Waited Goal(s) : to get a wide range of engines coming from a small set of standardized parts, big series breaking the costs and to increase the compactness of the motor.
